Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Course

The ATLS Course is an intensive 2 ½ day course designed by the American College of Surgeons to equip the participant with the knowledge, technical skills and decision making skills to improve the care of patients with multiple injuries. In order to maintain high standards and adequate supervision, only 16 participants are taken for each course.

Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient (CCrISP®) Course 2025

This two-day course is designed to advance the practical, theoretical and personal skills necessary for the care of critically ill surgical patients. The course is suitable for candidates who are now undergoing their surgical training (Master of Surgery) or just obtained their Master of Surgery. Cancellation Policy
In the event of withdrawal from the course, an administration charge of 10% of the total course fee will be charged up to six weeks prior to the start date of the course. 100% of the total fee will be charged within six weeks of start date of the course. Delegates wishing to transfer within 6 weeks of the original course date will be charged a 10% administration fee.
While we make every effort to run courses as advertised, we reserve the right to change the timetable and/or the teaching staff without prior notice and to cancel any courses without liability (in which case there will be a full refund of course fees to delegates).

This course is designed to advance the practical, theoretical and personal skills necessary for the care of critically ill surgical patients. It is aimed at surgeons and those dealing with surgical patients who are in specialist training.

It is the responsibility of the course delegates to ensure that they fall within the relevant criteria for the course as detailed above. If we discover that your experience is below the required level before or at any time during the course, the College reserves the right to refuse you from continuing to attend the course without compensation.

What does the course entail?

  • Theoretical knowledge (respiratory failure, cardiac disorders, renal dysfunction, pain, the multiply injured patient, communication skills, conducting a surgical ward round)
  • Practical skills stations (airway management, tracheostomy, wound assessment, stoma care,  advanced shock, communication skills, peri-operative cardiac disorders, chest radiograph interpretation, nutrition)
  • Simulated patient assessment
  • Clinical decision making
  • Legal, ethical, and communication issues
  • Data analysis.

How much effort is required?

  • Familiarity with pre-course manual
  • Passing a pre-course assessment (multiple choice questions)
  • Full attendance during course
  • Demonstration of knowledge and enthusiasm
  • Completion of a final assessment based on a clinical scenario.

NPMC Training the Trainers Course

The Training the Trainers Course under the National Postgraduate Medical Curriculum program is a combination of 12 asynchronous online lecture series followed by an intensive 2-day course designed to advance the standards of surgical trainers so that surgical trainers across the nation are better equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding of the definition and roles of a trainer in a standardized effort to produce competent trainees. This course is open to all trainers who are or will be involved in both Basic, Advanced and Higher Surgical Training in Malaysia. The course will only accept up to a maximum of 24 participants for each course to maintain the optimum quality of course delivery for participants.

Surgical specialists and consultants who are or will be involved in Basic, Advanced and Higher Surgical Training in Malaysia.
